Certification

InfoComm International® has awarded the general Certified Technology Specialist designation for the first time to audiovisual professionals in the Czech Republic and the Baltic States, namely Lithuania, following a Certification Prep course sponsored by Crestron International in Rijmenam, Belgium.

Ondrej Sedlacek and Petr Hrubes are being honored as the first two CTS designees in the Czech Republic. Both are employed with AV MEDIA, a leading company in the field of presentation, projection and audiovisual technology in the Czech Republic. Sedlacek is a technical manager and specialist for sophisticated audio and video projects at AV MEDIA, and Hrubes is a Managing Partner of AV MEDIA, having co-founded the company in 1993. The two AV professionals are members of InfoComm International.

Darius Viskaitis became the first CTS holder from the Baltic States and specifically the first from Lithuania. Viskaitis is graduate of Kaunas University of Technology and has been employed at Audiotonas -- a distributor focusing mainly on audiovisual solutions -- since 1998.

The Certification Prep course in Rijmenam, Belgium, on 30, 31 January and 1 February, prior to InfoComm’s Integrated Systems Europe, drew an international class with participants from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, the United Kingdom and across the globe. Fifteen of 17 students earned their CTS designations.

InfoComm has sponsored certification for more than 20 years at both general and specialized levels. Upon successfully taking the Certified Technology Specialist test, professionals in the AV industry can add the CTS designation after their name.

The CTS designation is for AV professionals who have demonstrated knowledge of the science and technology used in communications including audio, video, display and systems. Technicians, engineers, designers, salespeople, customer service personnel, managers and executives are eligible for taking the general certification testing.

The CTS program is the only professional AV certification program recognized by the National Certification Commission. For more information about the Certification Prep course in Western, Eastern and Southern Europe, contact Godwin Demicoli, CTS, at gdemicoli@infocomm.org or +49 (0) 8102 784 5409.
