STADE, Germany -- Matthias Wolff has become the first person to pass the German language version of InfoComm International’s Certified Technology Specialist test, which was recently released in German this May.
Wolff, a Media Technology Engineer, is currently working in technology sales for Crestron Germany in northern Germany. As part of his job, he provides concept planning of home automation, professional conference facilities and lighting and building controls. He also manages product seminars, supports dealerships and makes offers and tenders.
Wolff views industry education, such as the classes provided by InfoComm, as essential to success in business. He said, “Education is the best way to deepen one’s knowledge and remain competitive. An important source is the courses offered by the InfoComm Academy. For example, the Grundlagen der AV Industrie (Essentials of the AV Industry) deals with the overall portfolio and serves as a very good refresher of knowledge and enables people to step right into the industry.”
InfoComm has been sponsoring certification for more than 25 years. As of May 2006, nearly 5,000 professionals around the world have achieved the designation of Certified Technology Specialist from InfoComm International, including skilled technicians, engineers, designers, salespeople, customer service personnel, managers and executives from Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Upon successfully passing the Certified Technology Specialist test, audiovisual pros can add the abbreviation, “CTS,” after their names to designate that they have a demonstrated knowledge of the science and technology used in communications including audio, video, display and systems.
InfoComm’s CTS program is the only professional AV certification program recognized by the National Certification Commission. The CTS exam is currently available in English, German and Spanish.
