The InfoComm CTS certification program assesses individuals against peer-developed standards and competencies and provides a credential that is time limited for three years. For those certified continued competency is enhanced through ongoing renewal requirements and there must be adherence to the CTS Code of Ethics.

InfoComm has offered its certification program for more than 30 years and every year certifies more qualified AV professionals than anyone else in the industry. Individuals, companies, and customers have always recognized the CTS certification for its credibility and integrity.

InfoComm, through the Independent Certification Committee, continues working toward accreditation of the CTS programs through the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) ISO/IEC I7024 certification of personnel as administered in the U.S. by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Acceptance of the certification program would result in many positive benefits. The new process, which is guided by the Certification Committee, will result in the following:

  1. Defensible and reliable examinations
  2. Increased value of the CTS credentials
  3. Increased availability and recognition
  4. Ability to defend and protect the CTS credentials
  5. Increased security and confidentiality
  6. Increased professional acceptance and marketability of the CTS credentials
  7. Peer development and review with professional test development guidance

The online directory of CTS-certified AV Technicians is a public service for stakeholders and the public in general. Maintaining accurate and current CTS status information is the responsibility of the Certification Committee and the individual. While the designation is awarded to AV professionals who have demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of the science and technology used in communications including audio, video, display, and systems, a listing in the online directory of CTS technicians does not constitute or imply an endorsement of the certificant or the firm they may be employed by, or the competency of the certified individual.

All eligibility, application, score reports, special accommodation requests and general inquiries regarding InfoComm certification will be handled through the InfoComm International Certification Office, with headquarters located in Fairfax, Va., U.S.A.
