To maintain the integrity and value of certification in a fast-changing industry, CTS-designated individuals must renew every three years through continuing education.

What will I need to renew my certification?
Individuals are required to accumulate 30 renewal units (RUs) during the three years certification is valid. This criterion applies to the general CTS and specialized level certifications (CTS-I, CTS-D, CTS-R, CTS-S). top

What constitutes a "renewal unit" ?
Renewal units (RUs) are based on the length of instruction and source of content. (See lists of InfoComm International Renewal Units List and Approved Manufacturer and Private Vendor Training) top

Does any class or course qualify?
No. Sources for continuing education units include InfoComm Academy online and classroom courses, Institute courses, InfoComm seminars and workshops, approved manufacturer, private vendor and association courses, and postsecondary education (see list). top

Are renewal units provided only for education?
No. In addition to listed sources, examiners for InfoComm's specialized certification exams receive 3RUs for their participation. Instructors who teach for InfoComm receive 3RUs for each hour taught. Individuals who serve on InfoComm committees receive 3RUs for that service per year. top

Do I need to submit any documentation of training taken?
It is not necessary for individuals to submit education documentation to support the training being claimed. Individuals should maintain appropriate education documentation as a routine matter. Individuals may be randomly audited; those audited will need to submit documentation to support the units cited. When documentation cannot support the units claimed, their certification shall not be renewed. top

What does it cost to renew my certification?
A non-refundable fee of $50.00 must accompany the Certification Renewal Form (PDF). Renewal forms should be submitted prior to the individual's certification expiration date. Because InfoComm Certified is an independent certification program, The association's special member training discounts, EduBucks, may not be used for certification testing. top
