Jupiter Hires Highly-Regarded Industry Veteran to Head Up its Asian and Latin American Operations

Move to Boost Company Presence and Support on Sales to Asia, Latin America, and Australia & New Zealand

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Jupiter Systems, an industry leader in Command and Control Visualization, announced the appointment of Mark J. Dustan, to the position of Regional Sales Manager, Pacific Rim and Latin America where he will be responsible for managing the company’s international distribution network in Asia, Latin America, and Australia and New Zealand.

Dustan comes to Jupiter from a distinguished and broad background in the audiovisual industry, where he is known for his success in building world-class networks of international dealers. During his 35 years in the industry, he has set up and managed every aspect of building and supporting an international sales channel including dealerships, distributors, manufacturer’s representative firms. He is considered an expert on doing business in foreign countries and serves as Member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s District Export Council and as a Commissioner on the International Trade Commission for the State of Oregon, appointed by the state’s governor.

Prior to joining Jupiter, Dustan served as Director of International Sales at Clarity Visual Systems (now Planar Systems), a manufacturer of digital display and digital signage, where for nine years he was the Director of International Sales. During his tenure, Dustan built and maintained a network of worldwide resellers and was responsible for growing the company’s international business to nearly 50 percent of its total sales. Prior to that, Dustan worked at SMART Technologies of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada, a manufacturer of touch screens and white boards, where he was the Director of Smarter Kids Foundation, providing grants to educators in lieu of educational discounts, and at SARIF, Vancouver, WA, a manufacturer of Poly-Silicon LCD Projectors, as the Director of Marketing.

Before that Dustan spent almost a decade at InFocus Systems, Wilsonville, Ore., a manufacturer of LCD and DLP Projectors, as International Marketing Manager. During his tenure, from 1987 to 1995, Dustan built a worldwide network of AV dealers from the ground up, boosting sales to $90 million. Earlier on, he worked for Warren Steurer & Associates, a manufacturer’s representative firm for Sharp, Buhl, Dalite & Elmo, A&G Associates, a distributor of Sony, Panasonic, JVC and TDK products and Photo & Sound Company, at the time the world’s largest AV dealership.

Dustan studied Electronic Engineering at Portland Community College, and the technical aspects of radio and television broadcasting while in college. He is married with two grown children and lives in Portland, Ore.
